This research project involves interviewing Arabic-speaking clients and service providers from the wellness and reablement program as well as key informants from the Arabic-speaking community to create a framework that can be used to support Arabic-speaking seniors.

The findings of this research will inform a wellness and reablement framework that supports independent living and community engagement of Arabic-speaking seniors.

What this project involves

Interviews of up to 60-minutes will be conducted in-person or via Zoom with:

  • Arabic-speaking seniors who have received the wellness and reablement program.
  • Wellness and reablement service providers
  • Arabic-speaking people who support Arabic-speaking seniors
  • $30 reimbursement to interviewees for their time

The goal of the interviews is to gather insights from clients and service providers on their wellness and reablement experiences and culturally responsive programs for Arabic-speaking seniors provided by members of their community.

Study 1 – Interviews with Arabic-speaking seniors

For these interviews, we’re going to be asking Arabic-speaking seniors about their experiences with the wellness and reablement program focusing on assessments, goal setting, services and effects.

Study 2 – Interviews with service providers

These interviews will be exploring how the Principles in the Aged Care Diversity Framework are applied in the wellness and reablement programs for Arabic-speaking people.

Study 3 – Interviews with key informants

For these interviews, we will be exploring how wellness and reablement programs can learn from culturally responsive support programs for seniors in Arabic-speaking communities. Additionally, we will be exploring the potential involvement of non-professionals or community members in delivering wellness and reablement programs.
