This research project involves holding interviews with individuals with dementia and their carers to create a resource pack that they can use to support and maintain their cognitive, physical and mental health.

The findings of this research study will inform the development of a new campaign that delivers brain boxes designed to help seniors with dementia to age successfully, and which contain information booklets, brain profiles, and items designed to promote the healthy ageing of the brain.

What this project involves

Interviews of approximately:

  • 20-30 people with dementia
  • 20-30 carers of people with dementia
  • $20 reimbursement to interviewees for their time

These interviews aim to highlight areas they believe are the most important to be supported in. Some areas may include social connections, physical exercise, diet, brain training, sleep, medical appointments, etc.

Study 1

This round of interviews will be focussing on the design of resources to support people post-diagnosis.

Study 2

This round of interviews will be focussing on the review of resources that we have collated to support people post-diagnosis.

Read more about each study in the respective Participant Information and Consent (PIC) forms on the Together Forward - Resources page.

What is the targeted outcome?

The objective of this research project is to approach an understanding of how everyday lifestyle strategies can be used to support and maintain the cognitive, physical, and mental health of individuals with dementia.

We aim to create a new brain box, guided by our findings from the interviews, that we believe can assist in the holistic well-being of individuals with dementia. This new box will contain:

  • Information booklets
  • Brain profiles
  • Other items designed to promote the healthy ageing of the brain.

Who is eligible to enrol?

You are eligible for the Together Forward program if you:

  • Are 65 years of age or over
  • Exhibiting signs and symptoms of mild or early-stage dementia
  • Or you are a carer of someone who matches these criteria

Enrol in the project

Hit Enrol Now below.

Once you have enrolled in the project, we will arrange a time for you to join us in the first round of interviews.

Attend interview 1 (Study 1)

Interview 1 (Study 1):

In this one-to-one interview we will be asking questions targeted to help in the design of resources to support people post-diagnosis.

Creation of new brain box

Having completed the Study 1 interviews will all our participants, we will be able to set up a usability test with new program materials informed by the results of the interviews in phase one.

This will be in the form of a box of materials similar to the boxes distributed in Brain BootcampTM (Legacy).

Attend interview 2 (Study 2)

Interview 2 (Study 2):

This round of interviews will be focussing on the review of resources that we have collated to support people post-diagnosis.

This will involve the testing of a new brain box prototype and the included activities and resources.

Refining of new brain box

At the end of the project you will:

  • Receive a $20 gift voucher to thank you for being a part of the project.
  • Have played a vital role assisting us in creating resources to help people with dementia to manage their brain health and symptoms.
